You bought The Artist's
Way by Julia Cameron because you were told it was
a fantastic process. You got excited and started straight
away. But somehow life got in the way and you found
yourself a month on and you still haven't finished that
first chapter
Don't worry you're not alone!
The truth is, doing a process like The Artist's Way by yourself
is hard, intense and it requires tremendous strength, discipline
and motivation. If you do not have the support you need, it
is easy to give up and abandon the book on your bookshelf
So why not join an Artist's Way group and experience this
life-changing process for real?
The power of doing this work in a group setting instead of
on your own is remarkable. On the days when you would give
up and quit, the group will entice you to keep going.
Where
you might find yourself in denial, the group will gently and
lovingly nudge you towards self-realisation. And when you
want a sounding board, a place to carefully bring forward
your newfound creativity, the group will lend an attentive
ear.
The weekly gathering will help you recover and reconnect with
your Inner Artist
. Whatever
the way you express (or used to express!) your creativity
- from acting to quilting - The Artist's Way is a profound
and deeply satisfying way of renewing contact with yourself
and unlocking your "artist self".
OVERVIEW OF THE
PROCESS:
The process is for participants
to individually work through the tasks at the end of each
chapter, check in with each other at the weekly Creative
Cluster gathering to see how you did, then move onto the
next chapter. We also do a first week overview, a "catch
our breath" at about mid-term, and a total overview on
the last week.
The desired time commitment to get results is about 7-10 hours
a week - that includes the Morning Pages (which take about
a half an hour) every day, the daily walk and the weekly Artist
Date.
The tasks at the end of each chapter get progressively more
intensive and each individual participant finds their own
blocks and particular issues that are hard for them. However,
the work also gets more and more stimulating, energy creating,
and exciting as you discover who you are and what creativity
within you you've been ignoring, or never even knew about.
The work takes commitment, but it gives great rewards. Whether
or not you feel you have the time or the ability to make the
commitment, all depends on how much you want to feel creatively
fulfilled and excited about your life.
