Mindsight
Daniel Siegel
PB AUD35.00

|
|
From a pioneer in the
field of mental health comes a groundbreaking
book on the healing power of 'mindsight', the
capacity for insight and empathy that allows you
to make positive changes in your brain - and in
your life.
A Harvard-trained physician and clinical professor
of psychiatry at the UCLA School of Medicine,
Daniel J. Siegel, M.D. coined the term mindsight
to describe the innovative integration of brain
science with the practice of psychotherapy. With
a wealth of personal, hands-on experience, and
access to the latest research findings, Dr Siegel
is ideally placed to introduce this powerful therapeutic
tool to a wide audience. Using interactive examples
and case histories from his practice, he shows
how mindsight can be applied to alleviate a range
of psychological and interpersonal problems -
from anxiety disorders to ingrained patterns of
behaviour.
With warmth and humour, Dr Siegel shows us how
to observe the working of our minds, allowing
us to understand why we think, feel, and act the
way we do, and how, by following the proper steps,
we can literally change the wiring and architecture
of our brains. Both practical and informative.

The Enlightened Leader
Peter ten Hoopen and Fons Trompenaars
HC AUD47.95

|
|
The authors state in their forward
how many people discouraged them from writing
or publishing this book with the world enlightened
in the title.
The fears being projected included:
you will marginalise your audience and no one
is interested in anything aside from profits.
Fortunately they stayed focused on what they believe
is everyone's aim: to conquer fear and start to
live and grow in freedom.
What they have seen in their consulting
work is a search for a type of leadership that
incorporates not just material values but human
values as well.
The model they are teaching uses
the seven charkas or energy levels as the differentiator.
They have a companion chakra test to profile the
extent to which the seven aspects of leadership
are developed, either positively or negatively.
The authors combine the theory with a wealth of
stories, sharp wit and self-deprecating humour.
This may well be a challenging book
for leaders to read however it does have the capacity
to be life changing.
