Jon Kabat-Zinn

Jon Kabat-Zinn is the founder of the nationally acclaimed Stress Reduction Clinic at the University of Massachusetts Memorial Medical Center in Worcester, Massachusetts. His life work has been largely dedicated to bringing mindfulness into the mainstream of medicine and society. Since 1979, the clinic has served more than 11,000 patients in the form of an eight-week long course.

Jon's books and guided meditation programs describe meditation practice in such commonsensical, relevant, and compelling terms that mindfulness meditation practice has become a way of life for thousands of people.

The programs are an extremely effective way to develop and deepen a personal meditation practice without the ideological and cultural trappings that so often make it difficult for Westerners to drop into what is deepest and most beautiful, most liberating and most healing about meditation.

Their use provides a very real opportunity to taste those universal aspects of stillness and well-being, clarity, wisdom, compassion, and self-compassion, that Buddhists often refer to as dharma.

Guided Mindfulness

Meditations Series One

If you have ever wished for your own personal meditation teacher, this may well be the audio program for you.

Jon Kabat-Zinn, whose pioneering efforts brought the benefits of mindfulness meditation into Western medicine, offers a four-part training course on CD. Included is a complete body scan meditation, a sitting meditation and two mindful yoga sessions.

He teaches that you will not be trying to actively achieve a state of deep relaxation or any other state while practising mindfulness, but will rather be opening to an awareness of how things are in the present moment.

From that awareness you will often taste very deep states of relaxation and well-being, both in body and mind.

Coming to Our Senses

PB AUD55.00

Ten years after Jon Kabat-Zinn introduced his now classic introduction to mindfulness, Wherever You Go, There You Are, he now provides a definitive book for our time on the connection between mindfulness and our physical and spiritual well-being. With scientific rigor, poetic deftness and compelling personal stories, Dr. Kabat-Zinn examines the mysteries and marvels of our minds and bodies, describing simple, intuitive ways in which we can come to a deeper understanding, through our senses, of our beauty, our genius, and our life path in a complicated, fear driven and rapidly changing world. The book is divided into eight parts, each exploring a different facet of the great adventure of healing our world and ourselves.
